THE ROW will be held at CrossFit Morristown on August 24, 2019. All proceeds benefit our charitable partner Powers Promise in their efforts to research and cure Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
THE DAY OF THE EVENT
This years event will bolster 3 divisions - individuals, partners and teams. Each individual, paid or teams will complete 42,195 meters on our Concept2 rowers. Work can be divided however pairs/teams choose and we encourage athletes of all skill levels and athletic backgrounds to join in the fun. While the teams are working, family and friends can cheer them on and enjoy food, games, music and local vendor presentations. We will also have raffles and fun surprises throughout the day.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE
THE ROW teams will be comprised of Individual or Two Person Elite Teams or 4-6 Person Standard Teams. All male, all female or mixed-sex teams are all allowed. Each TEAM CAPTAIN will first register through the CQ registration and submit the entire teams registration fee. All additional team members will then sign up individually for their respective teams. We encourage teams to create a memorable name, round up a team of supporters and collect additional donations as they see fit.
A special prize will be awarded to the individual, pair or team who raises the most for Powers Promise.
*All donations are tax deductible and non-refundable. An email receipt is provided for all donations. PLEASE CONSIDER EMPLOYER MATCH PROGRAMS! This is an easy way to double your donation to Powers Promise!
Once registered, it is possible to change team member information or transfer a spot to another person.
More About Our Charitable Partner:
Powers Promise was created in honor of Trent Powers, a bright and vibrant three year old boy, with the mission of raising awareness and funds to help those who suffer from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Our efforts will go directly toward supporting the most promising medical research with the intent of improving Trent's life and all boys who are impacted by this disease.
Duchenne muscular dystrophy is the most common fatal genetic disorder diagnosed during childhood. It is a progressive muscle disorder that causes loss of muscle function and independence. Duchenne affects approximately 1 in every 3500 boys, or 20,000 babies born each year worldwide. Because the Duchenne gene is found on the X chromosome, the disorder manifests primarily in boys. Duchenne affects families of every race and culture. It can occur during every pregnancy regardless of family history. Random spontaneous genetic mutation is the cause of Duchenne in nearly 35% of families affected. There are approximately 15,000 boys/young men diagnosed with Duchenne alive today in the United States.
